Timothy Gordon, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, has accepted the job of chief financial officer for Winthrop. He was a finalist for the town administrator’s position in Sherborn but withdrew from consideration after receiving the job offer in Winthrop. “It’s exciting. The people are great up there,” he said. Gordon has a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Gordon said he will probably start his new job in January, and that he intends to remain a selectman. Gordon works as associate director of internal audit at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard for about 27 years, and spent four of the last six years on active duty.
