Town officials are hoping to glean public opinion on how to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries by hosting a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Scituate Harbor Community Building. Organizers say that town officials, law enforcement personnel, medical staff, traffic safety personnel, and members of the economic development community will also be present to discuss the potential effects of the distribution centers and to consider regulations. “I’m not sure how large it will be, but there will be different groups that have some concerns about this,” said Laura Harbottle, the town planner. “I do expect to get quite a variety of people coming out.” The hope is to propose a bylaw to be voted on during Annual Town Meeting in the spring. In Scituate, the question to allow medical marijuana dispensaries won in a 6,768 to 4,263 vote during the November election.
