Special Town Meeting voters approved a spending request last week to pay a $12,235 water bill to the town of Mansfield, covering a 2011 bill for 29 Foxborough residents who live near the town line. The amount does not include any accrued interest or late fees. Foxborough officials explained during the meeting that the bill arrived later than the June 30 cut-off for this fiscal year, and thus required approval by Town Meeting voters. When one resident objected, officials noted that the money to pay the bill comes from water fees, and not the general budget.
