Milton Public Schools’ assistant superintendent for business, Matthew Gillis, recently announced that he will leave Milton after three years to take a position as assistant superintendent for business in the Hull public schools. “His contribution here has been great,” said Milton Superintendent Mary Gormley. She said Gillis was instrumental in developing the schools’ on-site solar panel project. The panels, Gillis said, have saved the schools about $95,000 this year. Gillis is currently working on an off-site solar project for the schools as well. He said he was grateful for the opportunity to work for Milton public schools, but chose to move to Hull because it is “a better match for personal and professional reasons.” Gormley said an interim assistant superintendent of business will be appointed after Gillis’s departure a permanent replacement is sought.
