The Whitman-Hanson Education Foundation is holding its first annual Whitman-Hanson Youth Battle of the Bands on Jan. 11 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the regional high school in Whitman. The band selected as the best will win a package that includes cash and studio recording time. Tickets to the show will be $10, and proceeds will support the regional high school's music department and the school’s first student trip to China, which is planned for next April. There is still time for bands to register. All band participants must be amateurs and 25 years old or younger. The deadline for registering has been extended to this Thursday. The entry fee is $50 per band. For more information, go to www.whedfoundation.org.
