Scituate has opened its clam flats to shellfishing from Dec. 1 through May 31. Shellfishing is allowed east of the North River and north of the South River on any day of the week from December to February, and only on Thursdays and Sundays from March through May. Permits are required for shellfishing in town, and expire one year from the date they were issued. For more information about when and where shellfishing can occur, visit the town's website at www.town.scituate.ma.us/clerk/shellfish.html.
