Whitman

Mutual Bank’s 10th branch

Mutual Bank started construction on its 10th branch last week. The two-story building, measuring 5,600 square feet is on the corner of Bedford and Auburn streets, where Saftler’s Fabrics stood for about 90 years. Mutual Bank picked up the 5-acre property about two years ago, and the building was demolished in November 2011 to make way for the bank. Mutual Bank, established in 1889 in Whitman, now has branches across Southeastern Massachusetts, but its headquarters has always remained in Whitman center.
