Police were called Dec. 9 to quell a ruckus caused by students at an apartment house near Bridgewater State University, and have filed a criminal charge against the building’s landlords. About 150 people were found both inside and outside 176 Plymouth St., according to the police report, and “there was evidence of underage drinking as well as drug use.” Police said they responded to a similar disturbance in February at the building. Its owners, Andrew and Afitabi Babineau of Newton, are being charged as “keepers of a disorderly house.” When contacted, Andrew Babineau said parties are prohibited under the lease and that he has written to the parents of his student tenants regarding recent problems. He said he is still deciding whether to give those tenants a second chance or ask them to leave.
