New bids may be solicited for a project to repair a collapsed ceiling at the town-owned Marion Natural History Museum, officials said, after it was discovered that the winning proposal of $34,000 in the first round didn’t include the price of carpeting and installation. Town Administrator Paul Dawson said the specifications in the request for proposals included carpeting, but the contractor who submitted the lowest bid had not included the cost in its offer. There were only two bids made, Dawson said, with the other about $96,000. A chunk of ceiling at the museum, which was built in 1872, collapsed July 23 when the building was unoccupied. Museum programs have continued since the collapse.
