Cost of Dec. 29 snowstorm

Dedham officials say the snowstorm that blanketed the state at the end of 2012 cost the town around $60,000 for snow-clearing operations. Town Administrator Bill Keegan was happy with the town’s response and said the cost was “well within our range for a significant snowfall.” The town called in 35 snowplows to clear roads on Dec. 29 and the following day. Keegan said they were able to manage the snow in a timely manner and that no major snow removal was needed, which helped keep the cost down.
