“Reading on a Wintery Day” is the theme of a poetry contest sponsored by the Brockton Public Library. Original poems should be submitted by Jan. 26. Winners in three categories — children under age 12, teens, and 18 and older — will receive Kindle e-book readers from Mayor Linda M. Balzotti at a reception Feb. 2. All entries will be displayed at the main branch through February. Applications are available at all three library branches. For more information, call 508-580-7890, ext. 101, or e-mail emarcus@cobma.us.
