The Board of Selectmen last Tuesday opened the warrants for this year’s annual and special Town Meetings. Both meetings will be held on May 6, and the deadline for submitting articles for either meeting is March 1. Meanwhile, town officials are reminding the public that the state open burning season begins Tuesday and extends until May 1. Residents who obtain a permit from the Fire Department can burn brush on their properties during that period. Permits cost $20 and can be purchased daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fire Department headquarters, 505 Liberty St. Residents who obtain a permit must call a number listed on the permit on days they would like to conduct burning. The department prohibits burning on days it determines to be unsafe due to wind or dry conditions.
