Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 7:45 p.m. Thursday to discuss the town’s proposed application for a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development. Selectmen want up to $1 million for a joint housing-rehabilitation program with West Bridgewater, but would like to hear suggestions from residents. Avon received a similar grant in 2009 and used it to make emergency repairs and to fix substandard conditions in 24 homes of low- and moderate-income residents, according to Kathleen Kelleher of Community Opportunities Group in Boston, which is helping write the grant. The hearing will be held in the Mary Buckley Meeting Room of the Avon town offices, 65 East Main St.
