Town charter up for vote

Holbrook’s first town charter is on the warrant for a Special Town Meeting on Wednesday. The charter would convert the position of town administrator to town manager, who would supervise employees and have the authority to appoint some department heads. The charter would also change the positions of town clerk and treasurer/collector from elective to appointed positions. If passed at Town Meeting, the charter would require state approval and an affirmative vote on a townwide ballot. The warrant also includes a demolition delay bylaw, which would allow the Historical Commission to hold a hearing before the town issues a demolition permit for any historically significant building that is 100 or more years old. Town Meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. at Holbrook Junior-Senior High School.
