A month-long, communitywide effort to collect toys enabled more than 400 Dedham families to receive holiday presents for children. The town’s housing authority and schools identified families to be sponsored by the program, and the Dedham Youth Commission worked with several banks, churches, and other organizations to set up “gift trees” with ornaments holding toy requests from children. “The most important thing about this whole thing is there are so many people in the community who help,” said the youth commission’s director, Robert Blaney.
