As many as 800 undergraduates will line up to get their bachelor’s degrees Friday at Bridgewater State University’s Winter Commencement, set for 7:30 p.m. at the Rondileau Center. According to college spokeswoman Eva Gaffney, the keynote speaker will be George Winzenburg, president of Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Giselle Valdes, a first-generation Cuban-American graduating cum laude with a major in special education, will be student speaker. An honorary degree will be awarded to Joshua Hamilton, who received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Bridgewater State in 1980 and now is the chief academic and scientific officer at the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole.
