The environmental group Green Hanson is preparing to launch a program to promote earth-friendly business practices in town. The program is being funded with a $2,000 grant from the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund, and an $800 grant from Sustainable South Shore, both awarded last fall. The goal of the Green Business Initiative is “to network local businesses around ideas for a greener workplace and to serve as a way to move those ideas forward,” said Sue Robinson, a retired art teacher and Hanson resident who is project manager for the initiative. The group plans to hold a kickoff meeting, which is open to all, from 5 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the former East Bridgewater Savings Bank building, 620 County Road.
