The South Shore Seafood Exchange will host a cooking night from 6:30 to 9 at the Maritime Center on Friday with the hope of increasing membership in the seafood program. The free event will focus on the fresh fish offered by the exchange program, which allows local fishermen to sell their wares to clients who sign up for weekly deliveries. According to Marj Bates, a member of the group, Scituate fisherman Frank Mirarchi will show guests how to filet the fish, and Cindy Gallo Casey, owner of The Roman Table, will prepare some meals to accompany the filets. Bates hopes that this season, the group can secure upwards of 800 members, which would help support fishermen.
