Seniors can get help filling out their income tax returns from tax and financial specialist Joe Benson, who will be at the Pope’s Tavern senior center on Plymouth Street at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 30. The tax-preparation service, which costs $25, is available for people age 60 and older, and residency in Halifax isn’t required. According to Council on Aging staff member Joyce Curran, the tax service is heavily used, and seniors should make their appointments early. “He did a great business last year, and I expect him to do the same this year,” Curran said. Call the senior center at 781-293-7313 to schedule an appointment.
