Burning permits available

Permits are available at Easton Fire Station 1, 48 Lothrop St., for the burning season that runs from Jan. 15 to May 1. Permission must be obtained for each day of burning by calling 508-230-0788, according to the department’s website. Residents are asked not to call before 8:30 a.m., and they must leave a permit number after the message. The Fire Department reserves the right to revoke a permit at any time for violation of open air burning rules or other issues. Open burning must be at least 75 feet from all dwellings, take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on land closest to the source of the material to be burned, and be attended at all times by the permit applicant or designee. Burning can also be halted at any time if weather is dry and windy. For more information, go to www.eastonfire.com/burning.htm.
