Canton

Hopes for senior center renovations

A new senior center may be on the horizon for Canton in 2013. The current center is located in the basement of a senior housing complex; Town Administrator William Friel said replacing it is the last major capital project Canton has to undertake. The town is looking into converting the recently purchased former Knights of Columbus building at 500 Pleasant St. Renovation would cost at least $1.5 million, according to Friel, but the town has more than twice that from its previous year’s revenues, he said. Friel expects a vote at this year’s Town Meeting.
