Resident fails to meet court-ordered deadline for property cleanup

Resident Michael O’Donnell failed to clean up piles of junk on his property at 320 Titicut Road by a court-ordered Jan. 18 deadline, town officials said. Failure to meet with the order carried a penalty of $500 per day, according to Acting Building Inspector Dennis Machado, who took pictures of remaining junk early last week that he planned to turn over to the town’s attorneys. The court has also issued a permanent injunction that forces O’Donnell to keep the property clear, once it has been cleaned up, or face fines up to $1,000 per day. In 2011, O’Donnell was given a similar order to clean up his property and eventually complied. According to local officials, the property had again deteriorated, forcing the town to return to court to seek a permanent order.
