The town will auction a 48-year-old ranch house on about a half-acre of land at 235 Vernon St. on Feb. 7, in an effort to recover taxes owed on the property, and perhaps make a little money in the bargain. The property is valued by the town at $247,100. According to Treasurer-Collector Paula Linhares, “upwards of $80,000” in taxes is owed, and no one is living there. Land Court turned ownership of the property over to the town last July. Those interested in bidding may attend an open house at the Vernon Street property from 1 to 3 p.m. next Saturday. The auction is set to start at 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Cole-Yeaton Senior Center on Wally Krueger Way. Bidders must preregister at 3 p.m. More information is available on the town’s website at www.bridgewaterma.org.
