Grant program for home improvements


Easton is offering its first home repair grant program, aimed at helping residents keep their homes in good shape with grants of up to $4,500. The program provides funds to moderate-income households for repairs that will improve home health, safety, and functionality. The money doesn't have to be repaid as long as the home is not sold within a year of the grant being awarded. The grant program is an initiative of the Easton Affordable Housing Trust and will use $50,000 in community preservation funding, which will be distributed in phases, according to Town Planner Tim Harrigan. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 22. Details and applications are available at the Town Offices, the Ames Free Library and on the town website at
