South: Players of the Week and Top 10 boys’ and girls’ hockey teams

High 5

Mike Carbone , Marshfield: In a 2-1 week featuring wins over Atlantic Coast opponents Falmouth and Plymouth North, the Rams outscored foes 19-5 thanks in part to the senior forward’s five goals and four assists.

Rourke Flynn , Norwood: The Mustang forward put up two goals and two assists in his team’s last two games, both of them come-from-behind wins. Against Needham he scored twice and assisted on the game-winner.

Jake Quinlan , Abington: Just a junior, the defenseman has collected nine goals and eight assists in the Green Wave’s last four games, all wins. Three of the goals and five of the assists came in a 12-1 win Saturday over Mashpee/Upper Cape Tech.

Jane Morrisette , Whitman-Hanson/Pembroke: The three-town, two-school co-op struggled to a 1-1-1 week, but its junior forward and leading goal-getter made the most of it. With a goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Falmouth, she reached 100 points for her career and dashed the Clippers’ (13-0-1) hopes for a perfect season.

Hannah Murphy , Duxbury: The senior captain and leading scorer continued her torrid pace, helping the Dragons to a 3-0 week with four goals, one in a narrow 2-1 road victory over Westwood and three in a home-and-home sweep of Dennis-Yarmouth.

Game of the Week

Hingham boys (9-4-1) vs. Springfield Cathedral (11-0-2), Saturday, 3

Tony Messina’s squad hasn’t fared too well against other top-notch Catholic teams this season, having lost to St. John’s Prep, Malden Catholic, and Catholic Memorial, but this time the independent Harbormen have the advantage of playing on home ice. The Panthers boast a sophomore forward, Peter Crinella, and a trio of senior defensemen, Matt Foley, Jack Williams, and Artie Potter, closing in on 20 points, who will surely test Hingham goalie John Grenier (.919 save percentage, 1.39 goals-against average). Look for junior forward Sam D’Antuono (12 goals, eight assists) to lead the Harbormen offensively. Tim Healey
