Golf club takes aim at geese

The private Cohasset Golf Club isn’t rolling out the welcome mat to some of its visitors this winter. The club has contracted with a few hunters to kill Canada geese, under a permit with the federal Fish and Wildlife Service,  according to Acting Police Chief William Quigley. Quigley said police received some complaints about the shooting, but determined it was perfectly legal as long as the shooters were 150 feet away from a street and 500 feet from a dwelling. “For some reason, some of these geese lose their instinct to migrate and they hang around and cause a lot of property damage and health issues,’’ he said. “It’s pretty disgusting.”
