Michael P. Mullen Jr. has been appointed Mayor Linda Balzotti's chief of staff. Mullen, 28, has six years of government experience, having worked as chief of staff for state Representative Christine E. Canavan for four years, and as legislative director for State Senator John F. Keenan for two years. “Michael has the experience and knowledge to continue the work we have been doing,” Balzotti said. “He is well respected in the city, and his experience in state and local government will be an asset as we move forward.” Mullen, who also serves as vice-chairman of the Rockland School Committee, said he will move to Brockton from Rockland, in order to comply with the city’s residency mandate.
