Municipal buildings get safety grant

Wareham’s libraries, Town Hall, water treatment plant, and other municipal buildings will be safer thanks to a $9,000 grant from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association. The grant will allow safety officials to examine each town building and document critical information (including floor plans, fire extinguishers, exits and entrances, and structural details) that can be easily accessed by police, firefighters, and paramedics responding to emergency situations. This emergency planning system, which was developed by BeSafe Technologies Inc., was implemented in all Wareham schools last year. Police Lieutenant Kevin Walsh helped secure the grant to bring it to more public buildings.
