The salary for Braintree’s mayor will rise 19 percent after the election, following the Town Council’s vote last week to increase it to $125,000 from $105,262. The decision comes after seven months of debate and several rounds of discussion involving council committees, from which the idea was boiled down to four proposals presented to the council Tuesday. Separately, Mayor Joseph Sullivan was elected president of the Massachusetts Mayors’ Association during the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s annual meeting late last month. As part of the appointment, Sullivan will be a member of the MMA Board of Directors and on a Local Government Advisory Commission.
