Concert to honor 19th century alum

The Japan Friendship Concert, honoring the legacy of Shuji Isawa, a celebrated alumnus of Bridgewater Normal School’s class of 1877, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Horace Mann Auditorium at Bridgewater State University. During his lifetime, Isawa became an educational leader in his native Japan. Monday’s concert will feature the Boston Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yohei Sato; guest pianists Manabu Takasawa and Makoto Takenaka; faculty pianist Deborah Nemko; the Trio Fiero; and the university’s Alumni Chamber Choir with music director Carol Nicholeris. The concert is free and open to the public. At its conclusion, attendees can meet the performers.
