The Recreation Commission is looking to renovate a skate park next to Scituate High that has fallen into disrepair. According to commission chairman Chris Roberts, officials hope to ask for Community Preservation Committee funding at a future Town Meeting to install lights at the space. After that, the group would start designing a new park. Funding for the park components would be a mix of private donations and CPC funds. “The park was donated by a resident of town in the late ‘90s, a very generous donation, but it’s become dangerous in some places,” Roberts said. “It’s in dire need of repair and upgrading. It’s becoming a safety issue and a performance issue.” Roberts didn’t know the exact cost of the lighting request, but noted that it would be part of a request to light athletic fields at the high school.
