The Hingham Public Library will sponsor an Afternoon with the Author event featuring Kathryn Miles on March 3 at 3 p.m. The professor of environmental writing at Unity College in Maine will discuss her latest book, “All Standing: The Remarkable Story of the Jeanie Johnston, Legendary Irish Famine Ship,” which chronicles the 11 transatlantic voyages of one small ship that took Irish immigrants away from famine to the United States. Unlike other ships, no passengers ever died on the Jeanie Johnston, the book says. Miles will recount the stories of the captain and the crew and will be available to answer questions.
