Permits to use town fields will cost more this year, and selectmen unanimously approved a schedule of fee and program increases sought by recreation director John Denison. Denison, who said the town’s fee structure has not significantly changed since 1990, said the increases would help his department deal with increased expenses for clerical work, seasonal employees, and supplies. The application fees for town fields and Halloran Park, for example, have doubled to $20 for a single event and to $50 for multiple fields, events, and days. “I haven’t had any pushback from the public about the fees,” said Denison. “I think people realize our fees have been very fair and we’re still in the middle of the pack when it comes to surrounding communities.” Selectmen also approved regulations requiring groups of 30 or more who obtain a permit for an event to remove their own trash.
