Lafrance Hospitality Co. of Westport announced plans to build a 90-room Marriott hotel at Rosebook Place, a mixed-use development on Route 28 at the intersection of I-495 and I-195. Slated to open in late summer 2014, the TownePlace Suites by Marriott would feature a 300-seat function facility with cranberry bog views, service bar, breakfast restaurant, indoor pool, and exercise room. Lafrance plans to seek tax increment financing from Wareham for the project, which is expected to create up to 40 construction jobs and 50 permanent positions when the hotel is up and running. Lafrance owns several hotels, restaurants, and banquet facilities around New England, including the Hampton Inn & Suites in Plymouth. This proposed Wareham hotel would be developed through a land lease with cranberry grower A.D. Makepeace Co.
