Sustainable Braintree is encouraging participation in this year’s Green Gala fund-raiser to support the organization’s programs. The event will take place on March 2 at 7 p.m. in Braintree Town Hall, with tickets costing $50 per person. According to a news release, the proceeds will help events like the Farmers Market, hosted from June through November, and provide money for the annual $1,000 student scholarships and teacher grants by the Braintree Fund for Education. This year, organizers also hope to raise enough to fund a garden at Flaherty Elementary School. “We feel we’ve made a significant impact on the town and are really the voice of sustainability and environmental awareness,” said Cheryl Edgar, president of Sustainable Braintree. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the organization’s website at www.sustainablebraintree.org.
