A new community center built to serve the needs of senior citizens opened this month. The Sachem Rock Community Center can seat 200 and has office space for staff from the Council on Aging, meeting rooms, a computer lab, and a kitchen. A special Town Meeting authorized a $3.75 million debt exclusion override in February 2011 to fund the project. The senior council also received a $15,000 grant to cover educational talks, trips, and other programs. An official open house is expected to be scheduled sometime in April.
