Family donates to land trust

A local family is anonymously donating $100 for every new membership of $20 or higher in the Rochester Land Trust, said Laurene Gerrior, the trust’s vice president. The family will donate up to $5,000 for the rest of the year, Gerrior said, adding that the donation applies to new memberships only. She said the trust is negotiating for another property, which “makes it doubly important we raise money now.” She said members need not be from town, adding that some current members come from as far away at South America and California. The trust owns or has conservation restrictions on more than 400 acres in a town that she said “has no gas stations, no drug stores, and no stop lights.”
