Food for fines at public library

The Walpole Public Library is forgiving library fines throughout February  in exchange for donations to the Walpole Food Pantry. “We’ve done it in the past and it’s always been very successful,” said library assistant director Norma Jean Cauldwell. “The pantry gets some much-needed donations, and it gives our patrons a break on fines. It gives people a chance to clean up their [library] records.” The amnesty does not apply to lost items, she said. The Walpole Food Pantry, located at 1303 Washington St., is open to Walpole residents the first four Saturdays of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.
