Hanson community preservation forum

The Community Preservation Committee is inviting residents to its annual public forum March 20 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. The panel makes recommendations to Town Meeting on how Hanson should spend its revenues from the Community Preservation Act. The state law that Hanson adopted in 2008 allows cities and towns to levy a property tax surcharge, matched by state dollars, to support open space, affordable housing, historic preservation, and recreation projects. At the forum, the committee will outline its funding priorities for this year, review changes to the state law, and provide a presentation on how the public can make use of the committee’s revamped website, according to Laura Fitzgerald-Kemmett, the committee’s chairwoman. Residents are welcome to ask questions and offer suggestions.
