Green status, maybe

Town leaders have been urged by the Norwell Energy Committee to consider joining a state program that works with municipalities to promote and fund energy efficiency and renewable- energy initiatives. So far, 110 cites and towns in Massachusetts have earned energy leader status as part of the Green Community Designation and Grant Program; 103 communities have received a combined total of more than $20 million dollars in state grants. At a recent meeting, selectmen discussed logistics, such as the need for an individual to take on the additional workload for program participation. The board is expected to decide at an April meeting whether the town will become involved in the program.
