High hopes for Jenkin’s Gala Fundraising

The Jenkins Elementary School PTO will put on the Fifth Annual Jenkins Gala on March 23 to help raise money for school programs. The event typically raises upwards of $12,000 a year, which accounts for 25 percent of the PTO’s annual revenue. According to Healther Dillon, cochairwoman of the gala committee, the group’s executive board will decide on how to use the money. “What we raise this year is used this year,” Dillon said. “Some goes towards end-of-year items – smart boards or microphones for teachers, sound systems for classrooms, items that teachers may need in classrooms . . . but the largest expenses are cultural enrichment and field trips, technology for classrooms and supplies.” The event will take place at Barker Tavern at 7 p.m.
