The Rochester Police Department has received a $5,000 grant to buy a trailer and emergency equipment, including safety cones, traffic barrels, and detour signs, according to Police Chief Paul H. Magee. The grant is from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association, which provides casualty and property insurance to the town and has a grant program for its municipal clients to buy equipment and training. Magee said the gear can be used to enhance public safety at accident scenes and town-related events, including road races and the town’ s annual country fair. The interlocal association is the nonprofit insurance arm of the Massachusetts Municipal Association.
