Kindergarten registration and screening is scheduled for the first week of April for children entering classes at Assawompset School this fall. Registration forms were mailed to parents in February, and screenings will be by appointment. There are about 120 students in kindergarten, a number that has remained consistent over the past few years, school officials said. There are five kindergarten classes in town, all held at Assawompset. Children born by Aug. 31, 2008, are eligible for classes in the fall. Screenings are also being held for children ages two years, eight months up to four years, whose parents think may have educational difficulties. Any parent seeking more information should call Joanne Andrews, at 508-947-1403, ext. 1101.
