Preservation fund requests

The April 23 annual Town Meeting will consider six requests to appropriate money from the Community Preservation Fund. The largest of the requests, all of which were recommended by the Community Preservation Committee, is $215,000 to allow selectmen to acquire about 80 acres of land off Monroe Street for conservation. Other requests are $57,500 for the Housing Authority to install an intercom system at its Kilcommons Drive development; $50,000 to repair the wall at Pine Grove Cemetery and the wall and headstones at Mount Pleasant Cemetery; $31,850 for renovations to the East Pembroke Community Club; $25,000 for repairs to the Cobb Library on Union Street; and $8,000 for Robert DeMarzo to restore the historic animal pound in front of Town Hall.
