Regional Holocaust remembrance tonight

Ten synagogues in Brockton, Canton, Easton, Norwood, Sharon, and Stoughton are cooperating to sponsor a Holocaust remembrance event, free and open to the public, on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Temple Israel, 125 Pond St., Sharon. “Anyone and everyone is welcome,” said planning committee member Joyce Greenwald. The event, called the Day of Remembering the Holocaust and the Bravery, or Yom HaShoah v’HaG’vurah, will include stories from survivors and their families, a reading of names, a short service, candle lighting, and music. Organizers are encouraging everyone who attends to bring new or used postage stamps to contribute to the Holocaust Stamps Project at Foxborough Regional Charter School. Students have been working to collect 11 million stamps to raise awareness about and symbolically honor Holocaust victims.
