The Senior Center Building Committee chose Linwood Construction Co. of Woburn to build the center. Linwood’s bid of $2.66 million was the lowest of eight bids, according to building committee project manager Dan Pallotta. Pallotta said construction is scheduled to begin before the end of April and will likely last 10 to 12 months. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May 1 at 10:30 a.m. at 317 Plain St. After the ceremony, refreshments will be served at the community center at 394 Union St. The building committee asks those who wish to attend to RSVP by e-mailing rocklandseniors@yahoo.com or calling 781-871-1266.
