The Tony Hawk Foundation has given Brockton a $10,000 grant to build a skate park at James Edgar Playground, part of an overall $650,000 park rehab that will also include new fields, parking, bathrooms, and other enhancements. Mayor Linda Balzotti said the skate park idea came straight from young people who participated in neighborhood input sessions, and she is glad to accommodate their request. The grant is one of the two largest the foundation has awarded to a Massachusetts community, and only the seventh in the state, she said. “All signs point to a terrific asset for the community that promises to deliver years of active, healthy fun,’’ the foundation’s executive director, Miki Vuckovich, said in a statement.
