Pembroke

Townwide reading program

The public library is inviting residents to participate in its Pembroke Reads , a monthlong program that encourages townspeople to read a common book and attend related events. The featured book this year is “Following Atticus: Forty-eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship,” by Tom Ryan. The book is a true story recounting the author’s experience climbing all 48 of the 4,000-foot peaks in New Hampshire’s White Mountains with his miniature schnauzer, Atticus M. Finch. The program kicks off with a session for children on writing nature journals, Tuesday at 7 p.m. On April 25 at 7 p.m., Craig John will discuss his experiences climbing Mount Everest. Copies of “Following Atticus” are available in several formats at the library. For more information, go to www.pembrokepubliclibrary.org or call 781-293-6771.
