Vincent Hayward has been named principal of Holbrook Junior-Senior High School by Superintendent Joseph Baeta. Hayward has served as acting principal since Michelle McGlone was placed on administrative leave last fall. McGlone’s tenure formally ends June 30, and Hayward’s begins July 1, with the start of the new fiscal year. “He’s an incredibly gifted administrator, in just the short time that he’s been doing it,” Baeta said. Hayward has been a school administrator for about three years, as dean of students, assistant principal, and acting principal, the superintendent said. Previously, he taught physical education and social studies. With changes under way in the district, including the proposed construction of a school and an upcoming self-study for accreditation, Baeta said he felt Hayward had the institutional knowledge necessary to lead the school. The superintendent would not comment on the reasons for McGlone’s departure.
