Targeting a school safety plan

The School Committee is focusing on the security and safety of the town’s schools with two initiatives, according to chairman Sean Guilfoyle. The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, a consortium of more than 40 communities south and west of Boston, will send a group to Weymouth High School this summer to assess the security there and recommend a safety plan, Guilfoyle said. He said the cost will be paid by the Norfolk County district attorney’s office. In addition, the School Committee is forming a safety and security subcommittee and is looking for volunteers to join, Guilfoyle said. The work is necessary, he said, “in today’s world with everything that’s going on.”
